Hosts Qatar are on the verge of being out of the World Cup in the first week after their second consecutive defeat at the hands of Senegal. Taking full advantage of the lapse in the defense of Qatar’s team, Senegal scored the first goal and defeated them 3-1 in the match played on Friday.
If the Netherlands and Ecuador play a draw in the next Group A match or the Netherlands wins, Qatar will be eliminated. The Qatar team, which has been preparing for the World Cup for the last 12 years, could not survive the tournament even for a week. With this, Qatar became the worst performing host team in the 92-year history of the World Cup.
In the first match, he was defeated by Ecuador 2-0. On the other hand, the Senegal team, which lost to the Dutch team in the first match, brought their campaign on track with this victory.

Striker Bulay Dia scored the first goal by taking advantage of a mistake by Qatar defender Boualem Khaukhi. Famara D doubled the team’s lead at the beginning of the second half. Substitute Mohamed Muntari scored a goal for Qatar but six minutes later Bamba Diang scored to give Senegal a 3-1 lead.
South Africa, the hosts of the 2010 World Cup, was the only host team to be eliminated from the group stage. South Africa, however, won one of the three matches and played one draw. Qatar spent $220 billion to host World Cup for the first time but could not field a world-class football team
